Formed in the twin-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 1996, jointpop rose from the ashes of the seminal alternative rock bands, Oddfellows Local and Green. Charismatic frontman and lead singer/songwriter, Gary Hector, together with fellow guitarist, Damon Homer, provided the anchor for the band through a series of personnel changes over the years. Always accompanied by talented musicians, Gary and Damon were joined by Dion Camacho on drums, Phil Hill on keyboards and Jerome Girdharrie on bass beginning some ten years ago, rounding out the band as we know it today.
jointpop’s collective consciousness can be found somewhere between the Caribbean and the UK; between Bob Marley and Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger and Mick Jones. Counting all these legends as influences, along with the likes of The Beatles, The Kinks, The Sex Pistols, David Bowie, Grant Lee Buffalo and The Smiths, the band’s sound is deeply rooted in classic rock ’n’ roll with a heavy pinch of punk and indie rock.
